Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction

Manilatown Heritage Foundation

The Manilatown Heritage Foundation will be celebrating their 3rd Annual Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction this October2, 2009 at the InterContinental San Francisco Hotel. Our goal is to highlight and empower the broader community to share in the historic International Hotel struggle and victory. We plan to acknowledge the late labor leader Larry Itliong with the Bill Sorro Award for Social Justice, author and educator Oscar Peñaranda with the first Al Robles Award for Arts and Education, and entrepreneurs and philanthropists Dado and Maria Banatao with the Manilatown Legacy Award. Our keynote speaker will be educator and activist, Professor Estella Habal, assistant professor of Social Science and Asian American Studies at San José State University. We plan to celebrate in the community building experience with old and new friends.

Filipino American History Month

Celebrate Filipino American History Month with Filipino American artists, authors, and performers. Learn the richness and beauty of Filipino American culture and history through performances, special displays, talks, storytelling, and activities for children. Enjoy Filipino American dance and music as we commemorate the 422nd anniversary of the landing of Filipino sailors at California's Morro Bay.

This year's celebration is particularly special. On September 9, 2009, the California State Assembly voted to "designate the month of October 2009, and every October thereafter, as Filipino American History Month."

San Francisco Hep B Free  and Chinese Hospital will be offering free Hepatitis B  screening to all attendees.

Food and drinks will be provided, but you are welcome to bring some of your own!

Since 1971, Kimochi has delivered programs and services that help our elderly live with dignity and independence.  Kimochi is committed to delivering nutritious lunches to all seniors who come to us and providing the transportation services, residential and respite care, adult social day care and social services that 3,000+ Bay Area seniors and their families rely on.   Your attendance and support of Sansei Live! helps Kimochi deliver independent living programs and services for Bay Area seniors who now rely on the help of others.
